"The simplicity of the Straumann® Dental Implant System has revolutionized the implant dentistry”
This customer statement is the result of continuous endeavors to provide you with a system that is easy to learn and enables you to treat cases successfully using a manageable quantity of intercompatible components. Regardless of your experience level, the simple and logical procedures help you to achieve excellent outcomes, maximize your efficiency and minimize risks.
One system - one concept. Virtually all of the implants and prosthetic parts are intercompatible and thus create a single system that offers a great variety of treatment options. With three different implant types, two prosthetic concepts and a minimal number of tertiary parts, this system simplifies your decision-making process from the planning stage on.
A logical component structure. The logical structure of the Straumann® Dental Implant System and its color-coded components greatly facilitate treatment processes and communication in daily practice. Our system minimizes the risk of misunderstandings and helps you reduce your inventory.
Procedures that are easy to learn. It is of paramount importance that we reduce the complexity of all processes related to your work in implant dentistry. For this reason, they offer you a system of procedures that minimizes the number of required steps and standardizes processes. A procedure once learned will thus take you very far.
Implant lines : One system – three implant lines.
The Straumann Dental Implant System offers the user a clear number of implant lines for the successful treatment of all surgical indications in oral implantology.
Depending on the oral situation and selected surgical procedure, the following three implant lines of the Straumann Dental Implant System are available:
- The Standard Implant:
The pioneer in one-stage or transgingival healing and the proven classic from Straumann, mainly indicated for the posterior region.
- The Standard Plus Implant:
The flexible solution for trans-, semi- or subgingival implant placement in the esthetic region.
- The Tapered Effect Implant:
The specialist for immediate and early implantation in extraction alveoli.
All three implant types are fully compatible with the prosthetic systems of the Straumann Dental Implant System and offer the restorative doctor the greatest possible freedom of choice.
Three prosthetic diameters are available:
- Narrow Neck:
Implants with the 3.5 mm Narrow Neck (NN) restorative platform (Standard Plus Implant with a built-in octa abutment with external connection, for single-tooth restorations).
- Regular Neck:
Implants with the 4.8 mm Regular Neck (RN), restorative platform.
- Wide Neck:
Implants with the 6.5 mm Wide Neck (WN), restorative platform.
Standard Implant : One implant for all indications
The Straumann Standard Implant with the 2.8 mm neck has been the proven solution for predictable treatment success for more than a decade in all dental implantology indications.
This cylindrical implant is available in endosteal diameters 3.3 mm, 4.1 mm, and 4.8 mm and can be inserted easily and safely with only a few surgical instruments.
By offering two standardized prosthetic platforms (RN Regular Neck, and WN Wide Neck), the Standard Implant provides the restorative doctor with a clear range of options, even if different endosteal diameters are used.
- Standard Implant Ø 3.3 mm RN:
Limited alveolar ridge width
- Standard Implant Ø 4.1 mm and Ø 4.8 mm RN:
- Standard Implant Ø 4.8 mm WN:
Crowns and bridges in the molar region
Standard Plus Implant
Standard Plus Implants, with the reduced neck height of 1.8 mm, offer additional options in implant insertion taking into account the biologic width. The treating dentist has the option of letting the implant heal trans-, semi- or subgingival and thus has the flexibility needed for effective tissue management. The 1.8 mm neck height is designed to optimize esthetics and emergence profile.
For simplified handling, the same instruments and procedures are used with this implant type as those used with the tried and tested Straumann Standard Implants.*
Standard Plus Implants are indicated particularly for the esthetic region and enable lasting treatment success even in demanding cases.
*Special profile drills are used with Standard Plus implants for the final preparation of the implant bed.
Standard Plus Implants Regular Neck and Wide Neck
Standard Plus Implants with a Ø 4.8 mm Regular Neck (RN) and a Ø 6.5 mm Wide Neck (WN) have a Morse taper abutment-to-implant connection with an internal octagon.
- Standard Plus Implant RN (Regular Neck):
- Standard Plus Implantat WN (Wide Neck):
crowns and bridges in the molar region
Standard Plus Implant Narrow Neck
Indicated for the upper lateral incisors and lower lateral and central incisors, the Standard Plus Implant Narrow Neck with a prosthetic diameter of 3.5 mm offers an additional option within the Standard Plus line for small single-tooth gaps. The abutment is integrated in this implant and forms an external octagon connection for the suprastructure.
- Standard Plus Implant NN (Narrow Neck):
Single tooth replacement of the upper lateral incisors and lower lateral and central incisors.
Tapered Effect Implant :
Specifically designed for extraction alveoli.
Through its special anatomical shape, the Tapered Effect implant combines the advantages of a cylindrical implant with those of a conical shape. The upper conical part fits optimally in the cervical shape of the extraction alveolus, while the cylindrical part in the root region ensures high primary stability.
The Tapered Effect Implant, with a neck section of 1.8 mm in height, offers additional options in implant insertion taking into account the biologic width. The treating dentist has the option of letting the implant heal trans-, semi- or subgingivally and thus has the flexibility needed for effective tissue management.
For simplified handling, the same instruments and procedures, apart from the taps, are used with this implant type as those used with the tried and tested Straumann Standard Implants*
The Tapered Effect Implant has a self-tapping thread with reduced pitch for particularly gentle insertion and reliable primary stability.
Tapered Effect Implants are indicated particularly for immediate implantation (on the same day of extraction) and early implantation (after 6-8 weeks), for lasting treatment success in demanding cases.
*Special profile drills are used with Tapered Effect Iimplants for the final preparation of the implant bed.
- All indications in the area of immediate and early implantation
- Specifically designed for extraction alveoli
Crown and bridge prostheses
Prosthetics for every case.
The Straumann Dental Implant System offers restorative doctors and patients a clear and effective portfolio of prosthetic options for all indications and price segments.
For implant restorations, there are three different platform diameters available:

The LOCATOR*, which is available in different heights, offers secure and very easy incorporation of a denture through its special design, even if a divergence of up to 40° between two implants has to be compensated.
For the attachment in the prosthesis, easily exchanged plastic retention inserts with varying retention forces are available.
*LOCATOR® is a registered trademark of Zest Anchors Inc., CA, USA.
- Fixation of overdentures on implants with a minimum diameter of 4.1 mm
Magnets: the simplest incorporation of the prosthesis with the least implant loading.
- Fixation of full dentures on implants with a minimum diameter of 4.1 mm
synOcta bar prosthetics
Bar restorations: 50 years and still top.
The bar restoration ensures that the denture is held securely while providing primary splinting of the implants at the same time. This has the advantage that the forces are distributed evenly and the implants are thus loaded less.
When the Dolder* bar principle is employed, three degrees of freedom occur, which also "spare" the implants and enable resilient denture support.
If several bar segments are treated with matrices ("bar riders"), a so-called bar attachment is obtained.
*Dolder® is a registered trademark of Prof. Eugen Dolder, formerly director of the School of Dentistry at the University of Zurich.
- Fixation of overdentures on 4.1 and 4.8 mm diameter implants. When four implants splinted by a bar are used, the 3.3 mm diameter implants can also be used
The system for transgingival extensions.
- The Bone Graft system can only be used in conjunction with Straumann implants with a Regular Neck
